Den:

A fort in the woods, a base for adventures

The safe zone in a game of tig (or tag!)

A place of hiddenness where transformation begins

A gathering space in a home, usually to relax and converse together

Inspired by my kids' den in the woods, this experience winds through stories of hiddenness, protection, encounter and revelation in caves, clefts, tombs and tables.

We will explore each of these "dens" as we travel through our own stories alongside some biblical characters in their encounters with God:

Beloved
Wrestle
Honest
Glory
Silence
Barefoot

The last week will be a trust fall from through the crucifixion and resurrection story, ending with an invitation to pull up a chair and sit down at the feast.

You can do this on your own, or sign up and go through together with a friend.

What to Expect

This experience was originally designed as a lent experience, but can be done at any time during the year. I have left the lent and easter references, to help you navigate through the story.

There will be invitations to explore each theme through scripture, your own story, liturgy, various forms of art and prayer. The artistic style of these invitations will be different each week, depending who has contributed but there will always be a passage from the Bible, a reflection on the passage, and a practice to help you pray.

I encourage you to take one theme each week, but you are free to engage with it as quickly or slowly as you'd like.

About Jenny

I love to create space for people to encounter God in their daily experience of life.

For nineteen years I have had the privilege of offering guided retreats, discernment processes, one-to-one and group spiritual direction in order to help people notice and respond to the movement of God in and around them.

I received my masters in spiritual formation and soul care from Talbot School of Theology in Southern California, and now reside in the beautiful west of Scotland with my husband and three children.

I believe that if we can bring our questions to God and each other with openness and curiosity, we will find that he has much more to say to us than we might have originally imagined.
